Butterfly twist 360
From WushuWiki
Butterfly twist 360. (Xuanzi San Bai Liu).
This is a really easy move once you have learned how to do it, I will keep this short and sweet, because I hate reading long paragraphs on how to do things.
Start with the run up like you would a butterfly. instead of trying to get power from swinging your arms, concentrate on swinging your torso in a circle from right to left, your arms just follow your body. Once your torso reaches to the left, throw your chest up, like you would a butterfly kick and at the same time swing your right leg up. Once your right leg reaches its peak height, start to spin your body anti-clockwise, use your legs, upper body, arms, whatever you need to get your body turned. Try to land on the left leg and then kick the right leg out so you are not landing both feet together. This just comes with practise.

Flaws in the Butterfly twist and Quick fixes
- Not enough twist: Use everything you have to twist your body over, your upper body, legs whatever. You can start by rolling anticlockwise along the ground, Kitchen table to get the feel for the twist and then try twisting into big Gymnastic mats at the local leisure centre or your bedroom matress. Eventually the twist will come with practice. Believe me!
- legs not straight: If your legs are not straight in the twist try tensing them up and keeping them straight and tight, but be carefull not to strain your knee cap in landing.
- Legs not together: I know how annoying this is, to get your legs together and straight your upper body must be rotating faster than you lower body and your legs must be tight and straight, also it helps if your chest is up, like it is in a normal Butterfly kick. This will help you to bring your left leg over on a lower plane keeping it nearer to the right leg, thus both legs will be together. Remember to always work on one thing first, get the twist, then get the legs straight and then start to polish the move with the legs together. and thus you will have a perfect butterfly twist.
